Vicious peak-hour stabbing attack wasn't road rage: Police

23/06/2008 3:01:00 PM.  | Laura Tunstall

Police now say the stabbing of a van passenger in Sydney's south-west this morning was a targeted attack.

The 32-year-old was stabbed in the neck and arms after a confrontation with a truck driver on Rookwood Road at Bankstown.

It was initially believed to be a random road rage attack.

Police say the injured man and his passenger managed to escape - stopping in Auburn to phone for an ambulance.

A 43- year-old Baulkham Hills man was arrested at the scene - he and the passenger with him are being questioned.

I'm glad it wasn't random. I would hate to feel unsafe on a Sydney road.
