LIVENEWS.com.au Big Brother Blog Week 9

Ben vs Alice

I know in the house there were the people I knew I had to beat to win and there were the people who I wanted to beat for personal satisfaction. I knew Vesna and Logan Greg were the greatest threats – but on a personal level I wanted to beat Dean and Kate. So would Ben and Alice – they would know Brigitte, Travis and Terri are the main threats. They want to win - but they would almost settle for beating each other. If you asked them if they’d rather win and get nothing or come second to each other but win the $250,000 – they’d say come second – but they’d have to stop and think about it first.

Nobbi’s Absence

One of the Big Four was not there this week – and it showed. Who’s the Big Four: well obviously it’s Travis, Terri, Brigitte and Nobbi. They’re really struggling to establish a new pecking order. He’s definitely the biggest loss so far – as a viewer you even notice it. It was just like all the old alliances had been cloven asunder.

Terrible Travis

He’s the Peter Pan character BB has never had. Peter Pan might be fun for a quick adventure – but to live with he’d be excruciating. And he knows what’s going on. When Rory was saying he was playing the game during the family dinner because he never got angry Travis patted him on the back and said “Thanks Man”. But he knew what Rory meant – he showed how insincere he is but that very action. He may be stupid – but he knows enough to know that. Rory made another great point – Travis never confronts people with issues but he always has a reason to nominate people. However all these are moot points if he stays on message and doesn’t let Rory rattle him – he will get to the end – but I don’t think he’ll win. In fact I make this prediction right now – TRAVIS WON’T WIN – even though he’s bookie’s favourite. In a few weeks – without the dilution of a full house – viewers will start to find him as irritating as the HM’s.

That’s Not All

There was scene the other day that was so revealing of Travis. Basically Cherry was on the bed chasing Brigitte and tickling her and Travis was sort of in the way. He was going on about how he wasn’t going to try and tickle and trying to do a “pinky swear” with her to prove he wouldn’t. But the other two were completely ignoring him – he was just an irritating little kid around the adults. It was mondo embarrassing. Great car crash viewing – but surely more evidence he won’t win. The backlash against Travis is only going to get worse. I mean the guy doesn’t even kiss girls with his tongue.

Alice’s Small Target Approach

Of course Alice is playing the game – by making herself as small a target as possible. But it’s also in her nature to respect others, have manners and consult. She’s stopped manically cleaning and cooking so as to stop getting nominated. It’s a strategy that will take her far – but she can’t win because she simply isn’t interesting enough. Like Travis you have to give the house a reason to LOVE you.

Bagging BB

It makes me laugh all the legions of people who seem to get enormous pleasure from bagging BB. I’m not talking about conservative politicians who think it’s lewd or people who think it’s low culture. I’m talking about fans who go out of their way, mostly on the internet, to absolutely cane everything to do with the show. Most of these people freely admit they could never survive a second in the house. It’s so odd. Sure I’m a bit negative at times – but the thoroughness of the venom emanating from some is truly breathtaking. Why do people put themselves through it – why not take up bowling?

HM Supporters

You can tell a lot about a Housemate from their supporters. Cherry’s supporters are all sport guys with smart red “Vote for Cherry” t-shirts – they’re hot and organised. Travis’s supporters are all asexual teenagers or children and Brigitte’s supporters? Well none of them can spell her name. Not one. Check out the signs on Sunday. Guys her name is spelt BRIGITTE.

One More Thing

What happens if a flatmate walks? They’ve got $25,000 don’t they? What if they all decide to leave tomorrow? But they won’t cos they’re all too scared of the man. But imagine if they did. Imagine if one of them, or at least a few that know they won’t win said – let’s leave. Of course the lure of fame is too much… but imagine if they did. What would happen? Wait til there’s three there and they all have $75,000…

Alice won't win because she needs to "give (us) a reason to LOVE you". Hello??? Ben BB1, Peter BB2, Trevor BB4, Greg BB5. Boring pot plants. No love there whatsoever. Jamie BB6 and Alicia BB7 - a little off centre, but still no love. Reggie was the only winner who broke the mould. Come on, Alice and Ben are the shoe-ins......

Tim spare us the bagging paragraph please, your trippin man! Fans wouldn't go out of their way to bag BB .Its the cyber critics, the internet grey nomads, those with a Phd in life, some have another decade in them before their thinking bowling.Your as savage as a Cronulla lifeguard in Ramadan. Where are the supporters ?, the addicted vewers ?I must ask ,where is their praise, support and accolades for BB?. Is it that they cant for whatever reason convey their thoughts through the medium of writing.

"Sure I’m a bit negative at times"... if only. Surely, a big leftie like yourself would encourage people to criticise something they don't like - or are they only allowed to critique things YOU don't like? Viva la consumer.

I suspect it's similar to their policy on advertorial for commercial TV disguised as "journalism".
