NSW public transport labelled a joke

27/06/2008 8:34:00 AM.  | Rowan Barker
New South Wales has become an international public transport joke, with the botched T-card project leaving the state with a very bad reputation.

That's the verdict from International Association of Public Transport Secretary General Hans Rat, who directly blames the Iemma government for the failure.

Shadow Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian says what’s even worse is that integrated ticketing is at least 10 years away.

“Not only are we an embarrassment overseas but what is most concerning is commuters will have to wait under Labor at least until about 2018 before they even start thinking about a T-card.

“The state government recently released a state infrastructure statement, there was nothing in there about a T-card or an integrated ticketing system.”

The transport problem goes back WAY further than Morris Iemma. And while we have a state labor government it will NEVER get better. And with a prime minister strutting on the world stage and handing out barrels of money, OUR money, not his, to all and sundry don't hold your breath waiting for things to change. Bugger the rest of the world and what THEY think about our transport system. Start worrying about Sydney commuters and what WE have to put up with. WE'RE the ones who count. Or SHOULD.

Why does that not surprise me. A state transport system being run by a bunch of incompetent fools that call themselves the Labor Party.

And while we have dills who keep voting them in the rest of us have to put up with it.
