Changes to the pension on the cards?

29/06/2008 5:19:00 PM.  | Olivia Suzanski
Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan has hinted at a possible increase in the aged pension.

Mr Swan has told a forum in Mackay in Queensland's north, there are "problems with the adequacy" of the aged pension.

The issue may form part of discussions during a community cabinet meeting between federal ministers and Mackey locals tomorrow.

It is the fourth community meeting held since the Rudd government came into power last November.

Changes to the AGED PENSION.....Hmm let me think... emmission taxes put in place on the aged due to Flatulence levels, experienced with the aged.Alzhimers and Dementia taxes...They'll never remember. Yep I look forward to the help Labor will give them, with Bated breath and panick in my heart! Seriously, they'll give a pension rise of $24.00, ets taxes will account for $52.00. Labor Math...history shows it SUCKS!

It is hoped that there will be an increase in pension payments. People should recognise the good work of the previous Government that will make it possible. It could not have been done on the massive debt and deficits that were left by Hawke and Keating. There are however signs that our economy has already hit turbulence and that is even before Labors Industrial Laws and Climate change madness kicks in.
