The police commissioner says giving Tasers to frontline officers in Queensland will be more effective than the introduction of capsicum spray.
A Taser trial across south-east Queensland ended yesterday and police are compiling a report for the government.
Commissioner Bob Atkinson says Tasers were used 106 times during the trial, while the threat of using one was enough to diffuse the situation on 71 occasions.
Mr Atkinson's told ABC Radio without doubt in those 106 occasions someone would have been injured, probably both the police and the person involved.
He says police involved in the trial have endorsed the use of Tasers and a state-wide rollout of the stun guns would be one of the best options ever introduced.
Police Minister Judy Spence is expected to make an announcement about the future use of Tasers in the next month.
