A worker at a Sydney mobile phone retailer has been charged after allegedly stealing more than a quarter of a million dollars from her employer.
The 22-year-old female was arrested and questioned by Hurstville detectives after an audit of the outlet where she worked revealed that 1800 pre-paid phone cards were listed as sold, but no payment had been received for them.
Management had become suspicious and called police.
The cards are believed to be worth over $268,000 - the suspect has been charged with 13 counts of obtaining benefit by deception and has been bailed to appear in Sutherland local court on the 24th of July.
Police haven’t ruled out laying further charges.
