More than 2.1 million people watched Queensland secure its third consecutive State of Origin series win last night, giving the Nine Network another record breaking audience.

The audience for the game, in which Queensland beat NSW 16-10, peaked at more than 2.5 million viewers.

According to figures, it was the largest audience for an Origin game since OzTam ratings began.

Each State of Origin this year has been a record breaker for Nine, with game II getting an average of just over two million viewers nationally.

The game was the most watched in NSW, where more than 900,000 people tuned in.

More than 700,000 Queenslanders also watched, along with more than 300,000 Victorians.

Nine blew away its competition yesterday, finishing with a 35 per cent viewing share ahead of Seven's 24.6 per cent.

Nine has also been boosted by an improvement in ratings for its breakfast Today show, which beat leader Sunrise in Melbourne.

ABC also had another strong Wednesday thanks to its news, Spicks and Specks and The Gruen Transfer, continuing its outstanding run.

Here we go again explaining the bleeding obvious. Wrong; 900,000 did not watch in NSW. That was Sydneyites. Wrong; 700,000 Queenslanders did not watch the game. That was Brisbanians. Wrong: 300,000 Victorians did not watch the game. That was Melbournians. When the overall figures come out I will pass them on to you. It will account for the NSWelshmen, the Queenslanders and Victorians you didn't know existed (about 1.4 million viewers) as well as those in other states (except Tasmania and NT).

900,000 Sydneyites watched the game at home? what were the REAL crowd figures at the game? 83,000 seat stadium, useless for watching league, did it fill?
