Ponting to fly home with injured wrist

5/07/2008 12:33:00 PM.  |
Ricky Ponting will visit a specialist about his injured wrist next week after being ruled out of Australia's final two one-day games against the West Indies.

The Australian skipper injured his wrist while batting in game three of the last Sunday and, after failing to return to fitness for the fourth ODI in St Kitts, it was decided he should fly home early to seek treatment.

The skipper's departure means Michael Clarke should again captain the side in Sunday's last game at Warner Park, with the 27-year-old taking charge in a one-day international for the first time.

It brings to three the number of Australian players forced home early from this tour because of injury.

Matthew Hayden departed before the second Test without playing a game after arriving in Jamaica with an Achilles tendon injury.

Wicketkeeper Brad Haddin broke his finger in the first Test, but played with the injury right through to the one-day series before flying home last week.
