Parramatta Eels officials have identified the two men who racially abused Penrith Panthers captain Petero Civoniceva, and have given their names to the police.
This picture identifying the two men has been obtained by 2GB's Ray Hadley Morning Show.
The pair had taunted the Panthers skipper during Penrith’s NRL win over the Eels at Parramatta Stadium on Sunday, calling him a “monkey” and telling him to “get back in your tree”.
The Eels have now tracked down the men after examining footage taken by Channel Nine’s video cameras.
Parramatta chief executive Dennis Fitzgerald said the duo should banned for life unless they apologise to the Penrith captain.
“We think we have a name and address for the culprits and I’ve passed that on to the police who are considering their next step,” Fitzgerald said.
“If they don’t apologise there will be no reason for us to let them back in at all and I’m sure that the NRL would agree with that.
“They would be banned from all games until such times as they show some contrition but if they don’t it will just stay a ban indefinitely.
“The police will contact these people and give them an opportunity to say something, then we can can go from there and have a meeting with the NRL.”
Civoniceva, one of the most respected figures in the game, has been given four days off by Penrith after also starring for Queensland in last Wednesday’s State of Origin decider.
He took the extraordinary step yesterday of issuing an apology to Eels officials and fans after beer was spilt when he reacted to the taunts by hitting the fence at the stadium near the offenders.
