Zimbabwe's ruling party and opposition have held talks in South Africa for the first time since President Robert Mugabe's one-man election.
It’s understood that Zimbabwe’s governing Zanu-PF party and both fractions of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change agreed this week to begin a new process of dialogue.
The aim is to resolve the political crisis in Zimbabwe, possibly by forming some sort of unity government.
It’s been confirmed by reliable sources that the talks are taking place in South Africa under the mediation headed by President Thabo Mbeki.
