Obama to make highly publicised Iraq visit

21/07/2008 9:21:00 AM.  | Bob Constantini
Democratic Presidential Candidate, Senator Barack Obama is expected to visit Iraq, following a meeting in Afghanistan with President Hamid Karzai.

Even before Barack Obama makes his highly publicised visit to Iraq, the expectation is he will stand by his call for withdrawing US Combat Forces within 16 months.

Anticipating that, joint Chief of Staffs chairman, Admiral Mike Mullin said of Fox News Sunday that the situation in Iraq is improving, and should not be bound by an exact time frame.

“I’d worry about any kind of rapid movement out in creating instability where we have stability,” Mullin said.

Mullin admitted Afghanistan may now be more of a problem for US forces fighting on two fronts.
