Sydney predicts transport lapse after WYD

21/07/2008 4:46:00 PM.  | Mark Levy and Richard Maxton
There are predictions that Sydney's commuters will once again be subjected to poor transport services now that World Youth Day is over .

There's been congratulations all-round after our buses and trains coped well with the influx of hundreds of thousands of pilgrims during the papal visit .

Opposition leader Barry O`Farrell agrees that everything ran smoothly, but adds commuters have a question for the premier, now that the pressure is off.

"Regular commuters are asking how it's possible for the Iemma government to get it right yesterday, but to get it wrong day in day out as they seek to get to and from work."

It will be exactly the same as after the Olympics. It makes me hopping mad that all services are made to run smoothly for visitors who'll most probably never come to Australia again, yet the mugs who pay for it, that's you and me, and have to use it everyday, will be treated with the usual spin and contempt. About time the voters of this city remembered all this every time an election comes up before they waffle on about "change". A lot of you have very short memories at election time.
