British school bans fake tan

A British school is cracking down on girls aspiring to the perma-tan look of celebrities like glamour model Jordan and her Australian pop singer husband Peter Andre.

Carol Robinson, head teacher at Baines High School in Poulton-le-Fylde in Lancashire, recently wrote to parents asking them to control the amount of fake tan their children use.

"The current trend for fake/spray tans does little to enhance the appearance of our young ladies," the Blackpool Gazette quoted Robinson's letter as saying.

"We ask for your support in ensuring that girls do not come to school looking varying shades of orange."

However, she acknowledged fake tan was a safer alternative to sunbathing or using sunbeds.

"We're simply asking for parents' support in ensuring that it isn't over the top," Robinson said.
