Emerton re-signs with Blackburn Rovers

23/07/2008 7:01:00 AM.  |
Brett Emerton has signed a new four-year contract to stay with Blackburn Rovers.

Rovers chairman John Williams described the Australian's decision to remain at Ewood Park as "great news".

"Brett has been an excellent servant over the last five years and we are delighted to have agreed a deal which keeps him here for another four years," he told the club's website.

"He's a very willing member of the squad and a real club man."

The deal will see the 29-year-old midfielder, who joined Rovers from Dutch club Feyenoord five years ago, remain at Blackburn until 2012.

He has made more than 200 first team appearances for Blackburn and proved to be a versatile player in midfield, right-back and centre midfield.

Emerton recently scored two goals for the Socceroos in their 3-1 World Cup qualifier win against Qatar.
