Slater contests brawling charge

23/07/2008 12:49:00 PM.  | Dominic Brock
Billy Slater will appear at the NRL judiciary tonight to fight a two-match ban over his part in the brawl between Melbourne and the Dragons on Monday night.

Slater was given a grade 2 contrary conduct charge over the fight – which resulted in him being sent to the sin bin by referee Gavin Badger.

St George Illawarra’s Beau Scott – who was also sin-binned after that brawl – received a grade 1 charge and has pleaded guilty. He’ll be suspended for this week’s clash with the Bulldogs.

Slater has pleaded guilty to contrary conduct but will argue his charge should also be reduced, which would see him miss just one match.
