Two teenage boys saved a woman from drowning in a river on the north coast of New South Wales.
Corey Warburton spotted the body of a 70-year-old woman facing down in the Clarence River at Grafton on Monday morning.
He told Channel Seven he was confused about a suicide note he found on the bridge before seeing a woman floating in the river. Corey said he stripped off his shoes and shirt before calling for help and jumping off the Grafton Bridge into the water to pull her to safety.
His 16-year-old friend, identified only as Michael, heard Corey's cry for help and swam to their aid.
Michael's proud grandfather, John, told 2GB presenter Ray Hadley how the boys kept the woman alive.
“They were keeping her afloat, keeping her head up and keeping her afloat,” John said.
Michael suffers from cystic fibrosis but that didn’t seem to stop him from carrying out his rescue efforts.
“He’s a cystic fibrosis sufferer mate,” John added.
