An advertisement for The Chaser's War On Everything DVD has been banned from appearing on State Transit buses for being "too political".
The ad features The Chaser's APEC stunt accompanied by a slogan which reads: "The only good thing to come out of APEC."
The ban has surprised The Chaser's Julian Morrow, executives from the ABC and DVD distributor Roadshow Entertainment as they had already approved the ad.
Buspak, owned by APN News & Media's APN Outdoor, refused to run the artwork paired with a controversial slogan.
"They say that's too political. They said they will run the ad but they don't want anything that can be construed, even jokingly, as disparaging of APEC. It's ridiculous,” Morrow told Fairfax.
"We've sent the ad to other companies and they seem to be willing to risk the inquisition but not Buspak.
"I suggested sending revised artwork to Buspak with a big black strip over the slogan saying, 'Censored by Buspak', but I don't think they were too keen on that either."
Morrow believes the ban could be payback for public transport pranks previously pulled by The Chaser's team.
The APEC security prank resulted in the arrest of ten members from The Chaser’s group. It will feature in the new DVD to be released next month.
