Batman fans trash The Godfather

30/07/2008 2:26:00 PM.  | Tim Brunero
Overzealous Batman fans have been trashing movie classic The Godfather in an effort to push the Heath Ledger film to the top of a leading cinema website’s list of the best 250 flicks of all time.

Fans of Batman movie The Dark Knight have been rating The Godfather, which for a decade has headed the top 250 list on IMDB.com, as a 1 out of 10 in an effort to push their film to the top of the list.

News of the mean spirited vote rigging has set the internet on fire after it was revealed the campaign was initiated by fans on The Dark Knight’s own website forum.

A similar campaign was staged after the release of The Lord Of The Rings on IMDB.com.

The Dark Knight broke box office records when it was released earlier this month. Many speculate this was partly due to the death of Heath Ledger, who plays ‘the Joker’ in the film.
