Tottenham have announced their first big signing of the off-season, recruiting winger David Bentley from Blackburn for an initial £15 million ($A32 million).
After losing Robbie Keane to Liverpool and with fellow striker Dimitar Berbatov tipped to leave for Manchester United, Spurs have splashed out on the 23-year-old in order to boost their attacking stocks.
Bentley, who began his career at fierce Tottenham rivals Arsenal, has signed a six-year contract, with Arsenal to receive a percentage of Blackburn’s transfer fee.
"Making the move here was an easy decision to make to be honest. I've been trying my hardest to come here and be part of this," Bentley told Sky Sports News.
"All my friends are season ticket holders. All I want to do is just get out there.
"I'm excited by it. There are a lot of good players here, you look at (Luka) Modric, Giovani dos Santos and I'm looking forward to fitting in the side somewhere."
Tottenham manager Juande Ramos is still believed to be interested in signing Russian star Andrei Arshavin, who played a starring role at Euro 2008.
