Man shoot himself in police stand-off

A Canberra man is believed to have turned a gun on himself during a stand-off with police this afternoon.

Police say they pulled over a car in Canberra's south where it is alleged a male passenger refused to get out - taking hold of a gun.

After 45 minutes holed up inside the car the man allegedly shot himself and is in a serious condition in hospital.
