Channel Nine could be thrown out of the Games after breach

5/08/2008 1:04:00 PM.  | Laura Tunstall
The International Olympic Committee is considering banning Channel Nine from covering the Olympic Games in Beijing after a serious breach of broadcasting rules.

Channel Seven has paid millions of dollars for the rights to broadcast these Olympic Games and under IOC laws only they can film and broadcast footage from inside official venues.

A complaint has been filed to the IOC that a film crew and journalist from Channel Nine entered the Water Cube aquatic centre yesterday and filmed inside.

Channel Nine has admitted it breached the rules and has issued an apology – and promised not to air the footage.

The IOC is currently meeting to discuss the issue.

Channel Nine could be thrown out of the Games.
