Sydney midfielder Mitchell Prentice and Queensland defender Craig Moore will miss the start of the A-League season after both players were slapped with short term suspensions emanating from the pre season cup.
Prentice will sit out two weeks of the competition - a mandatory week for the red card plus one more for the reckless tackle against Wellington on the weekend which Football Federation Australia's (FFA's) review panel deemed "unnecessary".
Moore received just the mandatory one week suspension after being red-carded for a two-footed challenge on Central Coast midfielder Andre Gumprecht on Sunday.
He'll return for the Roar's second round match against Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium.
The A-League starts on Friday week with a rematch between 2007/08 grand finalists Newcastle and Central Coast
