Ronaldo staying at Man Utd... for now

7/08/2008 7:08:00 AM.  | AAP
Cristiano Ronaldo has told a Portuguese newspaper that he will continue to play for Manchester United, but still wants to join Real Madrid.

Publico published a summary of an interview with Ronaldo on its website on Thursday ahead of full publication in the newspaper.

Ronaldo is contracted to United for almost four more years and manager Alex Ferguson has been steadfast in refusing to sell the player who amassed 42 goals last season.

Publico quotes Ronaldo as praising Ferguson, but discussing his dream of playing for Madrid.

Ronaldo is sidelined until at least October following ankle surgery.
