Newcastle Jets skipper Jade North may be set to turn his back on the A-League champions and link up with Socceroos star Harry Kewell at Turkish giants Galatasaray.
North, currently on national duty with the Olyroos in Beijing, has attracted the interest of two clubs – with Kewell speaking highly of the defender to his new club bosses.
"Harry was obviously really impressed with Jade during the World Cup qualifiers and wants him over there," a source from the Jets told News Limited.
"That's why the interest has come from Galatasaray, but there is another club currently involved in negotiations as well."
It is believed Galatasaray and the other club have already made bids to Newcastle to acquire the defender’s services.
Galatasaray are reported to have offered $700,000 to the Jets for releasing North from the final year of his contract, while the other club is believed to have offered around $600,000.
North could receive a significant pay increase, with his current $180,000-a-year salary jumping up to around $450,000.
