Australian dancing legend Paul Mercurio has been booted off the Dancing with the Stars judging panel only a fortnight out from the show’s kick off.
The Strictly Ballroom star was measured in his “disappointment” however given he has another show with Channel Seven, Mercurio’s Menu, which has been renewed by the network for a second season.
“It is frustrating because obviously, just two weeks out, I had to fit this into my schedule,” Mercurio told newspapers.
“I would like to think that I’m going to be missed but who knows?
“Fortunately I’m still part of the Channel Seven family and can focus on my own show for the rest of the year.”
Mercurio’s disappointment will however be Todd McKenney’s joy as the move takes pressure off his judging role on the show which was believed to be in jeopardy after his drug arrest earlier this year.
Police allege the MIX FM presenter was found in possession of date rape drug GHB.
McKenney was found unconscious in a park in Sydney’s Rushcutter’s Bay on April 25.
He claims the drugs were placed in his pocket after he took off his pants while dancing at a party.
