When it comes to workplace hi-jinks, the story of an employee bathing naked in a Burger King sink is definitely a whopper.
Several workers at the Xenia, Ohio Burger King were fired after a video was posted on social networking website Myspace of the self-described “Mr Unstable” sitting naked in a cleaning tub, filled with suds and water.
The video made the rounds on the internet, and got the attention of Greene County Health Commissioner Mark McDonnell.
"My first thought was oh my god," he said, then immediately sent staff to inspect the premises for health code violations.
Employees and a store manager looked on, doing nothing to stop the man, and were subsequently fired.
"You can't account for everyone's stupid actions but when things do happen if you respond to it and take the appropriate action that's reassuring," McDonnell said.
When asked about the incident, Burger King spokesperson Denise Wilson said in a statement:
"Burger King Corp. was just notified of this incident and is cooperating fully with the health department. We have sanitized the sink and have disposed of all other kitchen tools and utensils that were used during the incident.
We have also taken appropriate corrective action on the employees that were involved in this video. Additionally, the remaining staff at this restaurant is being retrained in health and sanitation procedures."
