Batman Bale escapes assault charges

15/08/2008 11:22:00 AM.  | AAP
Batman star Christian Bale looks set to escape with a police caution over an alleged assault on his mother and sister.

The 34-year-old Welsh-born actor was arrested last month after allegedly pushing and shoving his mother and one of his three sisters in his suite at London's upmarket Dorchester Hotel the day before attending the European premiere of The Dark Knight.

But Britain's Sun tabloid reported on Thursday that crown prosecutors had recommended to police that Bale be cautioned rather than charged over the allegations.

"[Bale] should not face any charges following an incident which occurred in relation to his mother and sister at the Dorchester Hotel on 21 July this year," said a spokesman.

"Whilst the CPS treats all incidents which take place in a domestic context seriously, it is important that the views of complainants are also taken into account when making decisions in such case."

The newspaper reported that the family argument erupted after the actor's mother Jenny Bale and sister Sharon Bale asked him for STG100,000 ($A213,880).

Bale has pleaded for privacy, describing the incident as "deeply personal" and the assault allegations as false.

Hey, he was way out of line slapping the crap out of his mother and sister just for them asking him for some money. All he had to say was, "NO! Get a job, you lazy no-good-for-nothing wenches!!"
