Heath Ledger’s Matilda waltzing to the bank

19/08/2008 12:42:00 PM.  | Tim Brunero
Three Hollywood heavyweights have saluted the late Heath Ledger by pledging their earning’s from Ledger’s last film to his young daughter.

Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell have donated their earnings from The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus to the late Ledger’s three-year-old in a gesture of respect to the Australian born actor.

The three actors play parts of Ledger’s last role of Tim in the Terry Gilliam fantasy epic. The switcheroo is made possible by the science fiction film’s nature – the character Tim crosses from London to parallel worlds.

Gilliam has nothing but praise for the three heartthrobs.

“The three actors were totally heroic coming in,” Gilliam said.

“This doesn’t happen very often… where there’s a tragedy like this, and very famous, very successful actors suddenly say, ‘OK, we’ll do whatever it takes to help.”

“They came, they allowed the movie to be finished and they didn’t’ take money – it goes to Heath’s daughter.

“That’s extraordinary and wonderful… and we’ve got a movie full of wonderful people who did extraordinary things to help.”

The beneficiaries of Ledger’s estate, around $20 million, are yet to be decided by an Australian court.
