Cadel Evans pulled from Tour of Spain

Tour de France runner-up Cadel Evans has been forced to withdraw from the Tour of Spain, his Silence-Lotto team has announced.

Evans, who rode through a cruciate ligament tear in his knee during the Beijing Olympics, will be replaced by fellow Australian Matthew Lloyd when the event starts n August 30 at Granada.

In the 2007 Vuelta, won by Russia's Denis Menchov, Evans finished fourth.
