DPP slammed for delaying Gilham murder case

21/08/2008 10:42:00 AM.  | Kelly Fedor
A Supreme Court judge has taken a swipe at the DPP over the time it's taken to bring new evidence against a man accused of killing his parents.

Jeffrey Gilham has pleaded not guilty to murdering his parents in their Woronora home, in 1993.

Prosecutors are still trying to have his case retried.

Crown prosecutor Mark Tedeschi has admitted, due to budgetary constraints the DPP has had trouble finding someone suitable to handle the matter.

The judge wasn’t impressed, saying the retrial of a man on such serious charges should take priority.

The Crown has been given a month to hand over new evidence on Gilham.

I think that the DPP needs to find the money to spend on taking this case back to trial. The truth needs to come out about what actually happened at Woronora.
