Solomon Haumono was taken the distance for the first time in his professional boxing career, but maintained his perfect professional record with a unanimous points win over American veteran Cliff Couser last night.
Former rugby league star Haumono knocked Couser down in the first round, but was wobbled in the fifth at the Whitlam Centre in Liverpool, in Sydney's south-west.
The 32-year-old Sydneysider reasserted himself in the latter stages of the eight round bout.
The judges made Haumono the winner by margins of seven, eight and ten points.
He improved his record to 15-0 with 14 KOs, while 37-year old Couser dropped to 26(14 KOs)-18-2, following his sixth straight loss.
