A 22-year-old man, charged over a series of sex attacks in Sydney west and northwest, will remain behind bars until at least October.

A lawyer for the man from Rooty Hill has appeared in court on his behalf, requesting his name and any indentifying factors be suppressed from the public

Fairfield Local Court has granted that wish – the matter will go before Penrith Local Court on October 10, with a brief of evidence to be handed over by the October 8.

Bail was not applied for and was formerly refused.

The defendant didn’t come up from the holding cells.

DNA has led police to an alleged serial sex attacker preying on young girls in Sydney's west and northwest.

Police are confident they’ve caught Sydney’s so-called ‘buck tooth’ rapist, after a 22-year-old Rooty Hill man was charged overnight.

The man was arrested at the factory where hill worked at Wetherill Park, at around nine o’clock last night.

Police allege he’s responsible for attacks on six women since April – the latest was on Friday, with a schoolgirl threatened at knife point.

He’s been under surveillance for several days, with sex crimes squad commander Detective Superintendent John Kerlatec saying forensic evidence helped officers track him down.

Detective Kerlatec 2GB’s has told Jason Morrison, the victims were also vital in helping police find him.

“It is a credit to them - it has been a traumatic experience for them. We’ve worked with them and their families throughout the ordeal, and will ensure that they maintain the assistance they need to progress and go forward…”

He's been charged with a string of offences, including aggravated sexual assault, robbery, indecent assault and stalking and intimidation.

Police also raided properties in Rooty Hill, Glendenning and Doonside, seizing clothing and knives.

He's the second man to be arrested over the violent attacks, after police cleared the first suspect.

It’s not known if he was already known to police.

Hey, good on you, Sydney Police. Way to go!! Now Bucky can stand before the bar of justice to get his 2 or 3 years behind bars, get out in 1 1/2 years and be ready to prey on your young girls once again. LIfe goes on. Here in California he would get life without the possibility of parole and he, himself, would be someone's girlfriend in prison. Where he could think about his misdeeds and hopefully they would penetrate his thick skull that this was behavior unbecoming a human being.

Let's see what the justice system does - as a comment on here already has provided the information as to what is a forgone conclusion- Funny that even the USA are laughing at the system here in this country. What a complete joke that innocent victims have to suffer at the hands of the system - how many weeks to capture the criminal did it take only to get the justice system to set them free in a short time frame - watch this space!

RS and Pithy, the reason so many of our young and old Police Officers are leaving the Force in droves, because our far left justice system makes a mockery of their good work. The USA take care of this type , by putting him away for many years and keeping him off the streets. We should send some of our judges there for a course in "how to sentence a criminal". Imagine the family and Police Officers who worked hard capturing this slime, being forced to sit while some left judge gives him the minimum

The latest on this - the lawyer is asking to have the the person's name suppressed - this is just so typical of the criminals getting all the protection and once again you have the justice system failing us each and every day! The authorities should be doing their job and stop hiding the truth!

Dan, how did we guess that might happen. I thought this rapist was over 18yrs, why then is his name being suppressed. Lets guess, they will say he hasnt been found guilty..but his DNA led the Police to him. The laws that protect these low lives astound me.Just another example of our extreme left judiciary. Protect the crim at all costs, and forget the victims.Hmmm, anyone know what happened to the 2 escaped armed robbers at Auburn, or are they still at large ? Media gone silent on that one ?

its not because the judges are "so left wing", its because our criminal system is over loaded with these "lowlives" that we can't afford to house, feed and clothe criminals for "the rest of their lives" or how ever long you would have them be locked up. In America they can afford to lock people up for the rest of their natural, or indeed quietly dispose of them, because they spend more on defence and incarceration rather than spending even the meagre amount we spend on hospitals or education.

Damn Leftie - your response absolutely makes no sense-excuses we don't require it's what all the politicians try to convince everyone that this is the problem-where's the proof that our education and health system is world class more like well below second class standards-as you should know the problem is that 16 years of labor in NSW has produced corruption. If anyone thinks the jobs aren't out there for the boys and girls who are loyal party supporters you are all kidding yourselves.

Ill say it again, our lefty judiciary damn leftie..lets love em kiss em an make em all better judiciary.Yes America locks them away, good thing too, pity we didnt instead of letting them out to rape again. The money we spend on them each time they reoffend could have kept them locked away for many years. Check out the stats on released rapists reoffending damn..then tell me locking them up for longer will cost us to much. The softly feely approach from the left hasnt worked over the last 30 yrs

Maybe there would be more apprehension on the part of convicted criminals if they had no access to the little luxuries of life like T Vs , videos etc. Luxuries that a lot of people can't afford. And supplying special menus as in halal food. What a saving that would be. Make it more like a prison as it's supposed to be and less like a home away from home. And I cannot understand why this man's name has been suppressed. Can someone in authority explain that to us.

Keep asking why Colleen, he is and adult, WHY has his name been suppressed ?? ....We spend more on our criminals than we do our elderly in aged care, thats how leftist we are. Gymn's, tennis courts, cable tv, numerous channels, special menus, even get wifeys and g/f's in to relieve their sexual wants, in jail...while our elderly get $273 a week single to live on, and I wont go into the the pitiful amount we spend on them in aged care. Lefty policies of the last 30 yrs.

Has it occurred to anyone that there are good reasons for having names surpressed. 1. Someone is supposed to be innocent until PROVEN guilty - or have we forgotton that. 2. Have we forgotton what happen in QLD to the child sex offender who will never face trial because the media went on and on and on about him to the extent that the jury pool was tainted. I think ALL names should be surpressed until a person is convicted, then the media can blaze their names in NEON lights & vilify away!

I just wanted to add - please note the police already arrested one person and were WRONG...it does happen. I'm not saying this guy is innocent, it does sound like there is a good case this time - lets not bugger it up. As to sentancing, if this person is convicted of all these charges there is no way he will get 2-3 years! Whatever the sentance - we won't hear about it becasue it probably won't be sensationalised enough for the media to be able to beat the story up!

CL your absolutely correct and well expressed. You can see how the dribblers quickly moved away from the issue onto the justice system. They the moved on to the so called leftist approach. These imbeciles hate to admit it but the permanent appointment of the esteemed Nicholas Cowdrey was done by the Liberals. In my earlier career I was required to attend court regularly. It was a real eye opener to see what constitutes evidence and what is hearsay.I can recommend the experience to everyone.

CL the case in Qld , he was a convicted peadaphille, released , reoffended and named. I believe in innocent until proven guilty too, but his DNA led to his arrest...now how did they get his DNA if not from the victims ? I think our question relates more to the fact that others have their names published, before being found guilty. You only have to look at the footballer in the news now. Named before being found guilty.

Re QLD guy, he was not convicted of the charge he was being arrested with, therefore his name shouldn't have been released, that way he could be rotting in a jail now if he was guilty. Re this person, I agree DNA is strong, but until its tested in court you just don't know. Technicians bugger scientific evidence all the time inc DNA. Classic example is Lindy Chamberlain, she was convicted of a crime she did not commit because of alleged "blood evidence" in the car.

CL you cannot compare the tests they performed in the Chamberlain case, it is far far superior now. They had to send the so called "blood" test to the UK. The media convicted Lindy and the NT Police were negligent in their investigations. Australia had nothing like DNA testing in 1980 during the Chamberlain case.Today, it is almost irrefutable evidence.I take your point on naming them, and agree, but we either name NONE or ALL. Take Bird, the footballer.Who gets to decide who is and isnt named?

Look the police and the justice system do get things wrong however it happens too many times - how many innocent people have been incarcerated and were innocent-innocent until proven guilty who are we kidding here!!The way our justice system works it is usually a forgone conclusion that criminals are generally the ones protected and the law abiding victim is the one who suffers. It would make more sense to be more informed about cases involving injustice-one that comes to mind is the Roseanne Beckett (Catt) case-a woman who spent 12 years incarcerated (recently released and where's her apology from the Governor of this state) and innocent and yet the real criminals who should have been dealt with (and who ripped off the taxpayer by claiming compensation falsely) are still at large (one was a crooked cop)-something should be done immediately and yet who really gives a stuff-it's obviously only money (or in this case an innocent person's life destroyed) and no matter how much the system c

continued:continues to make errors it is allowable and nothing ever changes.Sure these so called professionals can make mistakes but you also need to learn by them. The case of Lindy Chamberlain-another bungled case-no evidence and yet she was convicted - the police had to place the blame on someone and they did. It's about time the system was changed and it means that the judges need to know the law and be selected on merit and not on who they know in Parliament. An example of this is.Judge Dodd [the sleeping judge] includes the cases of Paul Duncan, Adam Perre, James Kearns where miscarriages of justice occurred - more injustice occurred when he was pensioned off under a medical process making him eligible to access his superannuation well before his time.Unless this happens to you or someone you may know no-one here really has any idea of how the system operates unless you take full interest in the injustices that have occurred and familiarise yourselves with such matters - DNA does

continued:DNA doesn't lie so why is this person's name being suppressed - if there were any doubts this person would be set free or at least out on bail - neither has applied - or is it that the police have got this one wrong also!!Dr Allan Cala (ex NSW coroner) if this person had been stopped and his name blacklisted by the HCCC he would not have been promoted in SA where he continues to foul up cases. This is the type of professionals we deal with - it's a disgrace. The latest criminal "The butcher of Bega" how many women has this person mutiliated and still nothing has been done! I mean how much rubbish does the taxpayer and genuine citizen have to put up with.Simply saying sorry just doesn't fix anything - people need to feel safe and not be exposed to such incompetence. There are many more cases of injustice - these are just a few yet technology in the field of forensics has changed but the method of applying it hasn't.
