Brandy red-faced after 'Birdseye' blunder

29/08/2008 8:04:00 AM.  | Peter Cassidy | rugbyleaguelive.com
Former Panther and Sydney radio host Greg Alexander has apologised for a tasteless joke made on air about Greg Bird's alleged glassing of his girlfriend.

Reading a listener email on his 2UE sports program on Wednesday night, Alexander let this shocker slip.

"Did you hear about Cronulla's new sponsor?" asked Alexander.

"It's frozen food manufacturer Birdseye."

Alexander was quick to fess up to the blunder when approached by News Limited, admitting: "I messed up."

It's believed 'Brandy' was referring to the joke's poor taste, and not simply the fact it is completely unfunny.

Alexander insists the show has received just one listener complaint. Of course the percentage of the show's audience which that figure represents isn't known.
