Inquiry findings into the death of an Australian soldier in Afghanistan and allegations of detainee mistreatment will be made public in Canberra today.

27-year-old SAS Commando Jason Marks was killed when his patrol came under heavy gunfire from the Taliban in April this year.

Today Defence will release the findings of an inquiry into Lance-Corporal Marks's death, who is one of six Australian soldiers to be killed since the war on terror began.

Findings of another inquiry into allegations that Australian soldiers mistreated Taliban detainees in late April, will also be released.
