Man clings to life after skateboard attack

A young man is fighting for his life with critical head injuries after bashed with a skateboard near Macquarie University.

The 25-year-old man was rushed to North Shore Hospital where he underwent emergency brain surgery and is now clinging to life in intensive care.

Earlier today a Marsfield man turned himself into Eastwood police station. He has now been charged over the assault.

The 25-year-old victim was walking through the campus after a party when he was allegedly approached by a 20-year-old man.

Within minutes a fight broke out, the 20-year-old allegeldy used his skateboard to strike the victim, leaving him with massive head injuries.

Police said alcohol may have been a factor in the assault.
