In just three taps, hackers can gain access to an iPhone user’s private information, even if the phone is locked.
The latest flaw has been exposed on technology blogs, where they demonstrate the three easy steps taken to unlock an iPhone, which uses 2.02 software.
Hackers can bypass the password lock, by pressing the emergency call button at the unlock screen, and then tapping on the home button twice.
The ‘favourites’ screen then appears, giving a hacker complete access to the phone.
Apple is said to be aware of the fault, and are working on the problem.
“The minor iPhone security issue which surfaced this week is fixed in a software update which will be released in September,” Apple representative, Jennifer Bowcock, told Macworld.
In the meantime, iPhone users face the threat of having their private emails, text messages and contact details tampered with.
Apple has already been forced to release new software which helps users connect third-generation (3G) wireless networks faster, after they were inundated with customer complaints.
