Police chase suspect on hotel roof

Police chased a man onto the roof of a hotel in north Queensland after he allegedly stole a bottle of alcohol.

Around 10pm (AEST) on Friday, police at Ayr were trying to talk to the man about the alleged theft when he ran away from them and climbed onto the Kalamai Hotel roof.

He was arrested on the roof after a minor struggle with police and faces numerous charges.

He will appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on September 25.
