Solariums forced to display warning signs

30/08/2008 8:50:00 AM.  | Victoria Owens
Solariums will now be forced to display warning signs about the danger of skin cancer after losing a federal court battle with the competition watchdog.

Three major tanning companies were found in breach of the Trade Practices Act by engaging in false, misleading and deceptive conduct.

The ACCC has welcomed the ruling saying the companies failed to warn consumers the use of solariums would lead to an increased risk of skin cancer and skin damage.

You would have to be pretty dumb not to know (without signage telling you) that any exposure to UV light will increase the chances of skin cancer.

Paul, you have a lot to learn about the people of this world. Do you know why there is a warning on peanut pkts, telling people to eat the contents, not the bag? Machinery comes with warnings not to use your lighter to check fuel levels, Not to put hands UNDER the MOWER while its running, Not to play on live elec lines etc. mate, we HAVE some peolpe that the term DUMB doesn't do Justice for. Rectinol is NOT for ORAL use.....roflmao.....sadly Paul, we have people who dont believe what they read.?

Actually Nick I know too much about the people of this world and that knowledge has given me reason for great concern. There are 3 groups of people in society today. Those who control and set agendas, those that stand up and question these agendas (a small but very intellectual group) and sheeple.

Paul, I hear That....Love "sheeples". set me in the 2nd group. I have to question all...In particular, i question the silence of the media...Funny how most of the news is like chewing gum. Nothing of substance to cover the multitude of goings on. Like can anyone even put a rating on the intellectual weight on the news? The elite of sport, entertainment are but smokescreens to distract from the Plays in the world. Well met, good day to you.

Cheers Nick, I agree with all of your statement. The media is and always has been a control device manipulated by the neocons of the day to advance their agendas. No new news there. Enjoy your weekend.
