Neal's alleged menacing is a matter for the Liberals: Rudd

5/09/2008 9:38:00 AM.  | AAP
Allegations about federal Labor MP Belinda Neal's "menacing" behaviour are a matter for the Liberal Party to pursue, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd says.

Federal Liberal deputy leader Julie Bishop yesterday gave details of two encounters she said Ms Neal - cleared this week of her role in the so-called Iguanagate scandal - had had with Opposition Leader Brendan Nelson during the past week.

In one incident, Ms Neal was "menacing in her tone", Ms Bishop said.

She said it was clear the counselling the prime minister had ordered Ms Neal undertake had failed to yield the desired result.

Mr Rudd said Ms Neal had undertaken counselling.

"She has subjected herself to the counselling which I required of her some months ago," he said.

"All members of parliament have to conduct ourselves in the type of behaviour which is acceptable to the community."

But Mr Rudd said the Liberals could advance the allegations however they wanted politically.

"I'm sure it will be completely impartial in the way in which it is put into the debate," he told Sky News today.

The Prime Minister needs counselling himself on the reponsibilities of leadership. Maybe he can convene a committee or commission a report...

How typical for Kev to deny any responsibility. I thought hat the buck stopped with him - obviously only when it suits him.

Pete, after 9 months in government Rudd has not accepted responsibility for anything that has gone wrong. "Teflon Man" - nothing sticks! Mr Sheen in every way!

Krudd, she has undergone counselling and yet, she is still the vile, repugnant liar she always was; not unlike you. Despite the scandalous influence the ALP has put on the DPP's both state and federal, 98% of those polled don't believe Della Bosca nor Neale to be innocent of the charges. What's clear is that as PM, you sanction the use of political influence for the desired outcome of hushing up a crime. Sunlies, Heiner, Bourke and more spin than a washing machine is modus operandi Krudd.

Come on Mr Rudd show some fortitude and put the money where your mouth is. If you cannot do it then get someone to tell the Member for Robertson to pull her head in. But I wonder if you can The problem with any labour government is the factions one cannot live without the other.

Rudd and Neale have been emboldened by the lack of action on the part of the Federal and State Prosecuters. As I understand it the Prosecutors have claimed that there wasn't a possibility of a conviction-which is not necessarily an exoneration. Neale has repeatedly said that she has done nothing wrong but that was not what the Prosecutors said. As for Rudd he makes a sarcastic remark about the Coalition's impartiality-he can ill afford to talk about political bias-just watch question time in Parliament with Labor speaker Jenkins in command.

The tragedy of this whole affair is that decent hard working citizens have lost their jobs and their credibility trashed all because of the bully boy tactics and arrogance of ALP politicians. Also ,as a consequence, the footnote to a StatDec i.e. "A person who intentionally makes a false statement in a statutory declaration is guilty of an offence etc..." will have to be amended to include "unless of course that person is a member of the NSW ALP".Now we know where we stand!!

What more would you expect from the ALP family of thugs and their beloved unions? They say Howard lost touch with the people late during his reign, at least it took him 10 years, our beloved Kevin 07 has managed the same feat in less than a year.
