Elliott offered a chance to plead for his future

7/09/2008 2:32:00 PM.  | AAP
Penrith coach Matthew Elliott has not been sacked by the NRL club today but rather offered a chance to front the board this week to plead for his future.

The Panthers board held an "informal discussion" today over Elliott's future and opted to give the coach a chance to speak with them directly before they made any decision.

Penrith released a statement today confirming Elliott would be called into a meeting to discuss the club's future some time this week.

"Chairman of the board Barry Walsh said that the board has had an informal discussion today reviewing the 2008 season and are convening a board meeting within the week at which Matthew Elliott will be invited to attend," the Panthers' statement read.

Elliott has just completed the second season of a three-year contract after joining the club from Canberra.

He has endured a rocky season with reports of deteriorating relationships with several senior players.

The Panthers collected the wooden spoon in Elliott's first year in charge and again failed to make the finals this season.

Harris if you look at the at the last 50 ys of state govts in WA will see overwhelming dominance by the Liberals. If you think the Liberals have won the most seats in this election you are dreaming.Lets wait and see which party forms a minority govt.I suspect it will be whoever bends over the most.Dont count your chickens yet given the Nats desparation to survive. The lessons if learnt from the eastern seaboard might mean they support Labor.

Freestone- You are the dope that sings the praises of 'swinging voters' .Does it mean that the people of WA don't like to swing? You are a gilt edged buffoon.

Freestone - have you "flipped?". What's this entry got to do with the Panthers? Did I miss something subtle?

Benson,I two screens opened and posted on the wrong one.SUE ME you jerk.Hows Blacktown going, part of Aust yet?!!!Explain to Harris if you like.Never have I made any comment praising or otherwise swinging voters.I may have said Liberal voters should swing from the end of a rope.Hansonites should boil in oil forever and John Kerr will still be smouldering when the earth is no longer.Get it right Harris .Dont misquote me.

Pretty easy Harris. When I see a LIberal govt come to power with a social conscious my views may soften.I am old enough to remember Howards treatment of pensioners when he was treasurer.I have watched Tampa, children overboard ,Haneef ,Hicks and the destruction of our hospitals and doctors/nurses numbers under Howard as PM.Liberals like yourself make me puke. You can see it in your posts that you have the same BORN TO RULE mentality.Elections are won by good oppositions not lazy ones like Bazza.

Wow, even the Professor makes a mistake lol..you really are pathetic LoonyLance..your bitterness knows no bounds..because some dont bow and kiss your feet , agreeing with every word you post, they are a LIB..I would have thought some of your beloved Labor Leaders had a great ol dose of "born to lead" mentality..Keating the worst of all. I also remember his "born to lead" comment, it was he who said we are the arse hole of the world wasnt it ? He treated us as such, left many broke and ruined.
