A torrid opening to the finals series saw a number of serious injuries, including a season-ending torn knee ligament for the Cats Brent Prismall.

Geelong
Brent Prismall - Tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the opening quarter yesterday against the Saints. Requires a knee reconstruction that will keep him out of football for around nine months.
Darren Milburn - Injured his thump early on against the Saints, but played on despite noticeable discomfort. Will have scans later today to determine the extent of the injury.
Tom Harley - Landed heavily during the third quarter and suffered an injured buttock. Played on until being rested mid-way through the final quarter. Should be fine for the preliminary final in a fortnight's time.
Paul Chapman - An ongoing hamstring saw him spend the entire second half on the bench with the hamstring iced. The additional week's rest should mean he is ok for the prelim final.
Hawthorn
Trent Croad - Suffered a foot injury in the first half against the Bulldogs and did not return after the main break. With the week's break he should come up in time for the prelim final.
Rick Ladson - Injured his shoulder but should be fine with the extra week's rest.
Grant Birchall - Copped a nasty blow to the hip. Again, should be fine given the extra week off.
Western Bulldogs
Lindsay Gilbee - Left the ground in the final term against the Hawks with a corked thigh. Should come up in time for Friday's clash with the Swans.
Robert Murphy - Suffered knee bruising. Should be fine for Friday.
St Kilda
Jason Blake - Appeared to suffer a partial dislocation of his chronically injured shoulder, but the club offered a conflicting report, saying he had an injured thumb. Will be assessed later in the week.
Collingwood
Simon Prestagiacomo - Injured his shoulder in the first quarter against the Crows but managed to play on despite being restricted. In doubt for this week's game against the Saints.
