Ian Thorpe: Out of the pool and back to school

12/09/2008 2:54:00 PM.  | Jesse Perez

When Ian Thorpe realized he had a freakish ability to carve up the pool at the tender age of 14, he packed up the schoolbooks and hit the starting blocks. Now, having dominated the pool – the superfish is heading back to school.

Thorpe has taken up a psychology and linguistics degree at Macquarie Uni, and has quickly bended into uni life – quickly making friends and study buddies, despite being Australian Olympic royalty.

The only discernable difference for Thorpe is the designer goggles and the school of adoring female superfish fans trailing behind him.

However the girls may be left in the water – Thorpe is still believed to be in a long-distance relationship with a yet to be identified woman.
