Broadcaster Alan Jones has returned to the airwaves today, two months after undergoing surgery for prostate cancer.
Mr Jones was diagnosed with cancer after a biopsy in May, but didn't tell friends, family and colleagues of his condition until early July.
Walking into his studio early this morning, Jones joked with colleagues, giving high-fives as he greeted them.
Signing on at 5:40am, his first words to his eager audience were relaxed and reassuring.
“Yes I am here – I did find my way, I didn’t get lost, I knew to press the one button to get to the first floor,” Mr Jones said.
He went on to say brief thankyous to those who showed support throughout his recovery, and to his doctors – then it was back to business.
“We’ll see how we go,” he said.
Mr Jones stepped down from his Macquarie Radio breakfast radio program just before his July 19 operation, and was expected to return to work within three weeks.
But the top-rating breakfast presenter's recovery was slower than predicted, although doctors described it a success.
