It’s no secret that the internet has been a fertile haven for pervy dudes and dudettes keen to get their rocks off – but now it looks like lusty tastes among web users are changing to a more social flavour.
According to Internet tracking company Hitwise, its social, not sexual, interaction people are craving when they log on to the web.
Bill Tancer, General Manger of Hitwise, said that searches for porn have shrunk to 10 percent from 20 percent 10 years ago, and that sites like Facebook and Myspace are on the rise.
“As social networking traffic has increased, visits to porn sites have decreased, young users spend so much time on social networks that they don't have time to look at adult sites.” Tancer told The Enquirer.
His research is being compiled into a new book on cyber behaviour called Click: What Millions of People are Doing Online and Why It Matters.
Trawling through information from over 10 million users, Tancer made the discovery of porn’s flagging appeal among his other findings about social insecurities, political affiliations, and consumer trends.
