NSW Premier Nathan Rees says he won't be rushed into any decisions about the state's infrastructure projects amid revelations a number of them are on the line.
Mr Rees is facing a billion dollar deficit for this financial year, with as many as six major projects – including the North West Metro – facing the chopping block.
With a mini-budget expected in eight weeks, the government is looking at any way possible to recoup some of the losses.
Mr Rees said he’s not ruling anything in or out, including increased taxes.
“It may be that we need to increase the income stream in order to service the existing level of debt,” he said.
He’s also announced a metro trial of a different kind – 13 new buses to transfer commuters between Leichardt, Kingsford and the city.
They will be so frequent a timetable won’t be needed.
The trial will start on October 12.
