Three men have been killed by an explosion in their car south of Wollongong.
It's believed the car may have hit a gas main, causing it to burst, on the Princes Highway at Unanderra at around 7:30 on Friday night.
It took five fire trucks and 16 fire fighters over an hour to extinguish the flames.
"The driver ... lost control and the vehicle struck a power pole," a NSW Police Force spokesman said in a statement.
"The vehicle then ignited into flames."
The 27-year-old driver and his 24-year-old and 19-year-old passengers died at the scene.
