Doctors warn Sandilands: Live fast and die young

He’s well known for taking potshots at larger-sized contestants for their rotundancy, but it looks like Australian Idol judge has had to face some constructive criticism of his own.

The caffeine and nicotine addict has had some stern warnings from doctors: either cut out the coffee and the fags, or face a snap eviction from the mortal coil.

Sandilands, who marries long time fiancée Tamara on Friday, admitted he knew he should change his lifestyle, but lacks the motivation to do so.

"I still smoke a packet of cigarettes a day, still have heaps of coffee and Coke, but I do have a couple of litres of water a day and I'm hoping that'll help," Sandilands told News Limited.

"I should make big changes. I know that I'd rather be more healthy, but I just really like bad food and chocolate and cigarettes too much.

"I don't want to be one of these guys that asks for a salad and a handful of seeds like (Idol host) Andrew G. I'm just never going to be the vegan, healthy type - I can't do it."

Despite the warnings, and suffering from a severe bout of bronchitis, which bordered on pneumonia, the 37-year-old hinted that his half-dozen cups of coffee and litres of coke won’t be stopping any time soon.

"I went back to the cardiologist because I'm on blood pressure tablets and they said to me, I am surprised you haven't lost any weight. I know I have to lose about 10kg but I am in no real hurry. I just can't make the effort."

Kyle says he could never be a "vegan type" but until he alters his diet accordingly, he will never know or appreciate the advantages. Cravings for food and snacks change according to how they are satisfied, and what is eaten. It is strange that he prefers to shorten his life and risk his health for an unhealthy diet and lifestyle.
