23/09/2008 9:06:00 AM.  | AAP
A bomb blast near the northern Iraqi city of Mosul has killed five children and wounded three, as they were playing near their homes.

Police and a doctor say the bombers struck about 6.30pm local time, in the town of Hammam al-Ali, 20 kilometres south of Mosul.

The doctor says the bodies of five children have been received at his clinic, while two of the wounded are in critical condition and have been sent to Mosul for specialist treatment.
