We don't want Sonny Bill back, say Bulldogs

Bulldogs chief executive Todd Greenberg has shut the door on a return to the NRL club by runaway forward Sonny Bill Williams.

Williams is reportedly homesick at French rugby union outfit Toulon and upset at his treatment by millionaire club president Mourad Boudjellal.

"We've heard those rumours as well and it's not surprising at all for us that he's homesick," Greenberg told Sydney radio station 2KY today.

"Sometimes he got homesick when he was living back here in Sydney."

Greenberg said speculation the Bulldogs could be interested in bringing Williams back to the club was wide of the mark.

"If you're asking me if we want him back, the answer's no," he said.

"We've had no contact from Sonny Bill or his manager.

"We've moved on and our suggestion is he do exactly the same.

"In my view this chapter's over, it's complete. Sonny made his choices some months ago, the reality of that is now he has to live with those choices."

Williams has been nursing a leg injury and his time on the sidelines has reportedly angered Boudjellal.

"I think there's some reality checks in that, it's welcome to the real world," Greenberg said.

"People expect a return on their investment and millionaires don't become millionaires by making stupid decisions. Millionaires like this guy in France don't give away money without expecting a return on the outlay.

"Some are more bullish than others and I'm sure this gentleman, by the sound of things, sounds a little bullish but my advice to Sonny would be put your head down and do your best. I'm sure he'll be a great rugby union player."

The former Kiwi international second-rower paid $750,000 compensation to the Bulldogs after walking out midway through the first year of a five-year deal in July, but the NRL has blackbanned him.

Meanwhile, Toulon coach Tana Umaga is also reportedly under pressure with speculation former Wallabies boss John Connolly could link with the club.

Money Bill made his bed, now he gets to lie in it. Only then will he learn there are consequences in life, when one makes any decision.

Unlucky Bill. Should of had a long hard think about this decision before you did it - instead of just flying off the handle and only listening to one group of people - got to take the good with the bad. What upsets me is that even if the Bulldogs don't want him back, some club will. NRL should take a stand on this one! ban him until his original Bulldogs contract was set to expire!!

I knew this would happen. There is no ways SBW was going to be able to keep up in rugby union. He does not have the brain to understand the many rules nor does he have the fitness required for rugby union. NRL is a different game. It does not take much field fitness, only gym fitness for all the wrestling and there are not many rules. He is already injured because he has hardly any field fitness and wants to come home. The biggest joke is that he says he want to play for the all blacks one day..

What's wrong Sonny Dill, only getting domestic snails and frogs' legs instead of the imported stuff to go with your Bolly? Pull your finger out pal, you're there because YOU chose to be, nobody sent you there. Grow up!!

GEE there are some bitter people in the rugby league world today most of all the bulldogs CEO. How long ago did Sonny Bill Williams leave and still up to this day the doggies seem to know his every move. SO I ask have the doggies really moved on without Sonny Bill Williams or are they waiting for him to come back. Wake up this guy wont come back and the doggies need to move on instead of making up stories to make themselves feel better.

I'm making my comments as I play the violin just to assuage this hideous problem. Oh, spare the dramatic histrionics, please! Lonely? Homesick? Verbal harrassment by the boss? Oh, poor diddums. The violin intensifies. At age 23, he of all people should know better. However, 23 must be his IQ with his mismanagement and irresponsibilities. Why doesn't he go to South Africa to play Union there? He might be happier. If he's really homesick, repatriate back to NEW ZEALAND, not Australia.

BLU BOI - These are more than just rumours, dont be under any illusion, Greenburg knows more than he is letting on. I know you dont need to take my word for it but that is up to you. The dogs have moved on yes they have cap money left, the only issue is who to spend it on, though they arent the only club with money up their sleeve. The issue with him wanting to return would be the players he left behind. I dont have a problem with what he did, but I do have a problem with how he did it.

Sonny Bill - you have made your gold digging bed and now you have to lay in it. Thank goodness sanity has prevailed and the Bulldogs have turned you down. I think that is just what you deserve for leaving them to struggle for the rest of the 2008 season.
