NSW opposition's no confidence motion defeated

25/09/2008 6:44:00 AM.  | Joel Labi
Attempts to bring on an early election in State Parliament overnight have been labelled a political stunt by the NSW Government.

The Opposition's no confidence motion was defeated 49 to 33 just before midnight with no Independent or Labor MP's voting for the proposal.

Deputy Premier Carmel Tebbutt accused Opposition Leader Barry O’Farrell of being all talk during a fiery session of parliament.

“We understand our responsibility to manage the state’s budget – so that we can both deliver the service improvements that the people of NSW want to see, but we can also maintain a triple A credit rating…”

Sorry Barry you must have known that this motion will be defeated on party lines, you don't have to be a rocket scientist, to me it's a waist of time.

Proof, if it were needed, that there are not four decent ALP politicians in the state government. In fact, there is not even one. I hope they are proud of themselves, and think long and hard for in the coming election, I don't think the electorate will be so forgiving. Even if the press take sides as they did last time.

One of the most overworked words in politics is STUNT- any time one side of politics is confronted with a statement or an action from the other side-and it hurts them they call it a STUNT.

Carmel Tebbutt is no better than her bully boy husband Albanese. She's all talk and definitely no action-someone who has held specific portfolios and did nothing to improve accountability has absolutely no reason to boast about how others are "all talk"-she's been there and done that herself - a swift rise to fame by doing nothing- she needs to take a good hard look at herself! There's no confidence in this state govt-end of story!
